RE: Interesting long-term tire storage tips from GoodYear

Since tires are replaced every 5 or 6 years, do you really need to do this?
Why would you replace your tires every 5 or 6 years. This another one of those Urban Myths. Michelin says every 10 years but inspect them every 5 years for cracking. A lot of people are spending unnecessary money replaceing tires when there is nothing wrong with them.

RE: Live each day as if it were your last

I know what your going through. I retired in August of 2005 and we bought a MH after being out of it for about 10 years. We made plans to visit everywhere we haven't been. Well, good plans don't always work out. My wife passed away in April 2006 and never even got to go away in the MH. Now me and my toy poodle are trying to finish what my wife and I were going to do. Good Luck

RE: Home Dump Station

I second the Macerator pump. I've used mine many times to pump into my septic tank. Also stayed at a friends house for a week and pumped into his toilet, a little nervous but it worked ok.

RE: ? on driving down the road in a class C

One of the benefits of having a MH is ... switching drivers to go to the bathroom ....
How do you do that? Surely you pull over to switch drivers, in which case it doesn't matter who takes the wheel after you pee. It reminds me of the urban legend about the driver who went in back to make a sandwich.
Very easy, set the cruise control, slide out of the seat while holding the wheel and let the other person slide into it. This is just an emergency procedure though when you can't stop and really have to go because your eyes have turned green !!!
What, you've never set the cruise control and went and made a sandwich?

RE: ? on driving down the road in a class C

One of the benefits of having a MH is being able to have someone get up and start the generator and put something in the microwave. Or switching drivers to go to the bathroom. I think most people are smart enough to hang on while moving about the MH. It's something I wouldn't do in town but on the highway it's a different story. I have many friends with MH's and they all roam about while the coach is moving.I don't have any children that travel with me but if I did I would make them buckle up for sure.
And I'm sure that most of us on here roam around while in motion even if we won't admit it or I could be wrong. Won't be the first time.

RE: Going To Disney In October, Camping No./So. Carolina Border

I'v made that trip about 20 times (NY to Myrtle Beach ) and I doubt you will make it to SOB in 12 hours towing a trailer. My first stop is usually Fredricksburg KOA 8 hours, or Enfield KOA 10 hours or if you really want to push it Smithfield KOA 12 to 13 hours. Too much driving with a RV.

RE: Something to think about before buying AARP/Hartford Ins.

Well, AARP Hartford was cheaper than any other company I tried. I already had Hartford with my agent and by going to AARP I saved $540 per year. I priced Geico, Allstate, Progressive, and State Farm and AARP beat all of them by a considerable amount. Now my MH is a different story. Progressive beat them all.

RE: 2003 Ford E450 Flasher Relay Location?

On my 2000 it's under dash on left side on firewall. You got to crawl under dash to see it. Should be a black cover over it.

RE: Where's my converter? '01 Coachmen Leprechaun 314ss

That's where it is on my 2000 Coachman also. Go for a Inteli-Power 9200 Series Converter/Chargers with Charge Wizard. Best thing you can do for your batteries.

RE: How do you cook for just one person?

Here's a second vote for Taste of Homes "Cooking for Two" magazine. It also usually has a section for cooking for one as well. And it is fun to look forward to it coming.
I would also like to suggest that you give Marie Calendars frozen dinners a try. They are very good. It would be a nice way to break up the week. I especailly liked the spaghetti one and the honey roasted chicken one. But they all look good.
.
I second the Marie Calender dinners, try the lasagna. Only thing wrong with them is too much sodium.

RE: Levelling pads

I use 2 pieces of 3/4 marine plywood glued together with waterproof glue, 12" square and they work fine. I drilled a hole in each of them and use my awning rod to place them or pull them out. Works for me and a lot cheaper than the commercial ones.

RE: Can GPS learn preferred routes?

My Garmin will, but I think it's the last of it's kind. I have also noticed that there can be considerable differences between how it gets me from point A to point B vs. the return trip, and could take 10-15 miles on a 50 mile trip for it to quit complaining the the route it just got me to point B with is in fact the best one going home.
I hate to disagree with you but it's impossible for any GPS to do this.

RE: How do you cook for just one person?

I cook for two, put the second portion in fridg and have it in two days. Hamburger helper gives me three meals so I freeze two for the future. Spaghetti and meatballs gives me two meals, same thing, one now and one in two days. For 46 years had the better half doing the cooking but now as a widower have to learn to do it myself.
I'm getting there.
